Mindful Magic: The Power of Mindfulness and Hypnosis

How I use mindfulness and hypnosis to create peace and wellness

Recently, I’ve realized that my love for mindfulness and hypnosis creates a powerful synergy that brings me peace and wellness. These two practices complement each other beautifully, allowing me to live with greater calm, energy, and vitality.

But let’s pause for a moment—what do peace and wellness mean to you? These concepts can look different for everyone. For me, peace is the absence of stress and anxiety, the feeling of being confidently in control of my life. Wellness, on the other hand, is feeling good in my body, energized, and knowing that my body can heal itself and manage pain effectively.

Today, I want to share my morning meditation process—a step-by-step routine I use to dissolve anxiety, cultivate peace, and foster wellness.

This is my process, something I’ve developed and refined over time. I started by following someone else’s steps, then evolved it into a practice that resonates with me. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, so feel free to adapt this to suit your needs.

Let’s dive in!

My Morning Meditation Process

Step 1: Set a Timer

I start by setting a timer for 15 minutes. If you’re new to this, you might want to begin with a shorter time—whatever feels comfortable for you.

Step 2: Take Core Breaths

Next, I take a few deep breaths, focusing on releasing any tension or “stuff” I may be holding onto.

Step 3: Mindful Breathing

I bring my awareness to my breath—this is the mindful breathing phase. I focus on something specific about my breath, such as its rhythm, the muscles involved, or even the sound it makes. I stay here for a few moments or minutes, allowing myself to relax deeply before moving on.

Step 4: Gratitude Practice

Once I feel relaxed, I shift my focus to gratitude. I silently say “thank you” for whatever comes to mind—my angels and guides, their light and guidance, or the blessings in my life.

Step 5: Self-Hypnosis

Now, I transition into self-hypnosis, combining imagination and emotion. I visualize what I want and focus on how it would feel to have it right now.

Here’s an example: If I’m feeling anxious about a person or situation, I avoid dwelling on “what if” scenarios. Instead, I focus solely on what I want to happen. I send energy into the universe, affirming that I want this outcome—or something even better.

Similarly, if I’m dealing with illness, I don’t focus on the discomfort. I imagine myself feeling better, full of vitality, and doing the things I love. This sends a strong message to my subconscious mind that I expect to feel better soon.

Step 6: Wrap Up with Gratitude

I stay with this visualization and emotion until the timer rings. Then, I thank the universe, the Divine, or God, and slowly bring myself back to alertness, feeling inspired, empowered, and amazing.

Step 7: Journaling

After the meditation, while still in a state of deep relaxation, I grab my journal for an automatic writing session.

This is where I process any limiting beliefs, blocks, or frustrations that may have surfaced during the session. Sometimes I’m consciously aware of these, and other times they’re just below the surface.

Journaling helps me release these blocks for good. I create action plans, affirmations, and healing practices, or even tap into inspiration and excitement about my goals. It’s a powerful way to conclude my meditation/self-hypnosis practice.

My Super Power

This is why mindfulness and hypnosis is my Super Power. Mindfulness has the power to produce relaxation, easily and quickly, opening the door to your subconscious mind. Then following up with self-hypnosis manifesting what you want both in your subconscious mind and with your energy sending your manifesting vibration into the universe. This synergy is empowering, healing and calming.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, our minds and bodies often find themselves out of sync, leading to stress, pain, and a weakened immune system. But fear not! Who has Stress?

Stress is like a silent intruder, sneaking its way into our lives and wreaking havoc on both our mental and physical health. Mindfulness meditation has emerged as a potent antidote to stress, helping us cultivate a state of present-moment awareness and a state of calm even while we are experiencing storms of life. Studies have shown that regular mindfulness practice can lower levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, leading to reduced anxiety and improved mood. Can one hypnotize themselves?

Hypnosis, with its ability to tap into the subconscious mind, offers another avenue for stress reduction. By guiding individuals into a deeply relaxed state or using self-hypnosis, you can help unravel the knots of tension stored in the body and reframe negative thought patterns that contribute to stress. Imagine a life with less pain

Pain is often a signal from the body that something is amiss, but it can also become chronic and debilitating. Mindfulness-based pain management techniques teach us to observe our sensations with curiosity and non-judgment, allowing us to develop a healthier relationship with pain. Research suggests that mindfulness can reduce the perception of pain by altering the way our brains process sensory information.

Relaxation promotes healing

Similarly, hypnosis has been shown to be effective in alleviating both acute and chronic pain. By tapping into the power of suggestion and visualization, hypnotherapy can help individuals change the way the brain registers pain, reducing the pain levels and promoting  relaxation in the body.

The dynamic duo of wellness

The mind-body connection runs deep, influencing not only our mental and physical well-being but also our immune system. Chronic stress weakens the immune response, making us more susceptible to illness. Mindfulness and hypnosis offer promising strategies for relaxation, bolstering our body’s defenses which creates an environment for our bodies to heal naturally. Relaxation promotes healing.  A body in stress heals very slowly.

Mindfulness increases resilience

Mindfulness practices have been linked to improvements in immune function, including increased activity of immune cells that help fight off infections. By fostering a sense of inner calm and resilience, mindfulness can help fortify our immune system against the onslaught of stressors.

Hypnosis increases wellness

Hypnosis, too, has been shown to kick start your immune system, with studies demonstrating improvements in immune markers following hypnotherapy sessions. By harnessing the power of the mind, hypnosis can help activate the body’s innate healing mechanisms and promote overall wellness.

How to get started

Now that we’ve explored the profound impact of mindfulness and hypnosis on the mind-body connection, how can we incorporate these practices into our daily lives?

Mindful meditation

Start by carving out a few minutes each day for mindfulness meditation or self-hypnosis. Set aside a quiet space where you can relax without distractions, and experiment with different techniques to find what resonates with you. Whether it’s focusing on your breath, practicing body scan meditations, or listening to guided hypnosis recordings, consistency is key.

Mindful activities

Additionally, look for opportunities to infuse mindfulness into your daily activities, such as mindful eating, walking, or even washing the dishes. By bringing a sense of presence and awareness to each moment, you can gradually cultivate a deeper connection between your mind and body.

Self-hypnosis in a nutshell

Entire books have been written on self-hypnosis and I have read several of them. I used to think self-hypnosis had to be difficult since so many pages were devoted to it. IT’S NOT DIFFICULT!

Easy Self-Hypnosis technique

1.Start with a simple mindful breathing meditation- focus on your breath for a few minutes and when you feel relaxed, 

2.Introduce an affirmation. I like a short affirmation that can be repeated easily. Begin repeating the affirmation over and over and then when you are ready, and you will know when that is.

3.Begin to imagine the affirmation in your life…As if it has already happened and begin to allow yourself to feel the emotion as if it is already in your life. 

4.Keep with the visual and the emotion for as long as you want. Longer the better.

That is self-hypnosis.  Try it!

It can be viewed as a step towards success, showing strong self-trust and a belief in positive outcomes.

At its essence, letting go is a conscious decision to release the grip on situations, emotions, or even people that no longer serve your well-being. It’s acknowledging that true control doesn’t always come from micromanaging every aspect of your life, but rather from steering the ship with a clear and focused mind. By releasing the need to control everything, you allow the natural ebb and flow of life to guide you towards success.

Letting go should not be thought of as a weakness. On the contrary, letting go requires immense strength and self-awareness. It’s an act of surrendering to the present moment and trusting that the universe has a plan for you. As a hypnotherapist, I help guide my clients through the process of releasing deep-seated fears and anxieties and enabling them to unleash their inner power. Embracing the power of letting go is a way to open the door to success, to release the baggage that may be holding you back.

Success is not always about forging ahead; sometimes, it’s about releasing what no longer aligns with your goals. Consider the analogy of a hot air balloon. To ascend, it must release sandbags that anchor it to the ground. Similarly, letting go of unnecessary baggage in your life can propel you to greater heights. It’s about shedding the weight of self-doubt, negative thoughts, and limiting beliefs that hold you down.

Letting go is mindful and empowering

Letting go is also a powerful means of being present and grounded. In the fast-paced world we live in, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of stress and anxiety. By consciously letting go of what you cannot control, you create space for mindfulness and peace. This, in turn, allows you to approach challenges with a clear mind and a steady heart.

Moreover, letting go is a form of self-trust. Trusting in your abilities and the natural flow of life creates a sense of empowerment. It’s an acknowledgment that you have the ability to navigate through the uncertainties and challenges that may arise. By letting go, you affirm your trust in the journey, recognizing that success is not just a destination but a continuous process of change and growth.

It’s a profound and empowering lesson that, when mastered, can lead to a more fulfilling and successful life.  This new year you can begin by letting go of the old baggage from 2023 and launching your new goals balloon.
