Conquer Sleepless Nights with Mindful Self-Hypnosis

From Anxious to Restful: The Ultimate Sleep Class

Link for more info: https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/prcityrecreation/activity/search/detail/28289?onlineSiteId=0&locale=en-US&from_original_cui=true

  1. Begin with mindful breathing meditation. This is just as easy as becoming aware of your own breathing. When your mind drifts off, just bring it back to the awareness of your breathing….noticing, what you notice.
  2. Some nights this could be enough to fall asleep
  3. Once mindful breathing has relaxed your thoughts down, however, they are still there…release self-hypnosis..
  4. Begin to bring your awareness to the anxious thought, scenario, condition, problem, etc. Ask yourself, what is it that worries you the most? Could it wait till morning? What is the worst case scenario? How likely is that to happen? Once those questions have been answered… really it is just facing the fear.  Once fear is faced it often loses its bite. You are most likely already feeling more relaxed and at ease.
  5. Ask yourself this question: What would you like to see happen, instead? Play that in your mind and while playing what you want to happen, what emotion would you feel if that happened right now? Let that play out and allow that to be your peaceful comforting thought as you drift to sleep.
